Bins

Well-designed bins are essential for effective waste management. A good bin should seal properly, open only for those who need access, and keep out unwanted intruders such as:

• Lazy neighbours who treat your bins as public rubbish bins, often leaving them dirty.
• Roaches and other pests attracted to food waste.
• Rainwater, which can enter due to damaged lids—often caused by careless rubbish collectors who break the hinges, leaving lids unconnected.

I’ve personally experienced this: one of my bins was badly damaged by rubbish collectors—ironically called "Bin Busters"—who lived up to their name. I tried repairing the bin, but they managed to break it again. I suspect this might have been passive-aggressive behavior because the bin was too large.

Eventually, I decided to listen to the universe and removed the bottleneck by donating the bin. Sometimes, removing things from your system is the simplest and most effective way to improve its overall quality.

Smaller bins I think were the optimal size being easier to handle, less likely to break and so I managed to optimize the system.
